Friday, April 25 - Buchanan Lady Warhawks vs. Christiana
The Lady Warhawks gave the Christiana girls fastpitch softball team a run for their money tonight. The favored Christiana played well tonight but ultimately I have to say Buchanan really came together as a "TEAM" tonight. The Warhawks talked to one another and stayed motivated. This team is a young team with only 5 girls on the team that have ever played fastpitch ball. Several of them have never even played ball before. Katie Davenport pitched for the Warhawks and though the first inning in this league is usually pretty slow and for the most part a warm-up period Katie hung in there and pitched well. First baseman Nikki Lovvorn hit 2 RBI's and guarded her base well. This girl loves to play ball. Center fielder Hope batted two good singles tonight. Haley Patterson who you can always count on to nail the ball came through once again. Haley is playing in a new position this season. At Catcher she gave it her all. Coming up fast with the ball and daring anyone to come across the plate. This girl looked like a pro tonight. Though the Warhawks didn't quite pull out a win tonight they gave it their all. I bet Christiana didn't expect the challenge tonight but Buchanan held them down to score no more runs in the third inning. Way to go Lady Warhawks!!! Next game is a double header against Leanna at Leanna. Good luck girls.
